Milan make their move: Montella plus Kovacic

The next month will be decisive for Milan in Serie A, Coppa Italia, on the bench and behind the scenes. Its 30 days that could re-shape the club forever. Something is moving already however; with Corriere dello Sport claiming today that Adriano Galliani has already met Real Madrid President Florentino Perez to discuss Mateo Kovacic. The rossoneri plans to take the former Inter midfielder back to the city on an initial loan deal, with a view to a permanent move in 2017. The Spanish giants, who paid Inter €29 million last summer, would prefer to recover some of the cost immediately but this is something that is just not possible for Milan.

Meanwhile, a name that’s back in fashion is Vincenzo Montella. It’s hard to believe that Cristian Brocchi will be asked to stay at the helm next season even if the club claims an unlikely win in the Coppa Italia Final. On Thursday, there was contact between Galliani and the agent of the current Sampdoria tactician, which shows there is some substance to a possible move. Montella has a current deal in the port city until 2018 but that contains a €1 million buy-out clause.
