Milan trash Inzaghi’s legacy, sell five of his January signings

Even if lot of players (especially midfielders) were linked with San Siro move last month, Kevin-Prince Boateng remains Milan’s only January signing.

The likes of Nigel de Jong and Antonio Nocerino, on the other hand, are set to leave the club after having struggled with playing time during Sinisa Mihajlovic reign.

The Serbian manager did not complain about the club’s transfer strategy, even if his predecessor on the Rossoneri bench Filippo Inzaghi had been gifted six new players during last year’s repair market.

Luca Antonelli, Gabriel Paletta, Mattia Destro, Salvatore Bocchetti, Alessio Cerci and Suso were supposed to help the former Diavoli manager to get (at least) a Europa League placement.

We know already that Milan did not manage to reach such a result (for the second successive campaign) and that Inzaghi was fired at the end of last season.

Gabriel Paletta, Salvatore Bocchetti and Mattia Destro were shown the exit door shortly after the Italian tactician as the Rossoneri failed to make their moves permanent last summer.

Alessio Cerci and Suso were given six more months to prove their skills, but having both failed to show any sort of improvement compared to last season, they’ve been loaned out to Genoa in this past transfer window.

Luca Antonelli is the only ‘survivor’ of Milan’s 2015 January window.

The Product of Milan’s Academy came back to the San Siro after having spent eight years at Genoa and is currently the most reliable wingback that Sinisa Mijalovic can dispose of.

It is fair to add that former Liverpool hopeful Suso has joined Genoa on loan with buy-out clause and buy-back clause in favor of the Rossoneri. The Spaniard netted two goals in the opening five games with Genoa and could come back to the San Siro next season if he’ll carry on delivering high standard performances at the Marassi.
