Milan update: Galliani scouts two alternatives to Abate

It looks like Milan will be shopping come summer to reinforce their right-back position.

Though Ignazio Abate has rebounded this year, earning plaudits for his remarkably consistent play, the Rossoneri are worried about finding a replacement for him, seeing as Mattia De Sciglio has hardly shined, and youngster Davide Calabria will be sent out on loan to find more playing time.

Milan may have to move with some urgency, seeing as the disappointing De Sciglio wants to know soon where the club stands on his future, and whether he is still held in the same high regard as when he was brought into the senior setup.

Forced to work low-cost, Adriano Galliani is seriously pondering two potential replacements, the first being 29-year-old Genoa wingback Cristian Ansaldi.

Ansaldi brings with him a wealth of experience (he was a key cog in Rubin Kazan's defence, before moving to Zenit and Atletico Madrid), a flexibility which allows him to play on the left, and a proven Serie A track record.

An alternative to Ansaldi would, however, fit Milan down a tee: young, Italian and very promising. We're referring to Andrea Conti, who has finally provided Atalanta with an exciting alternative to Bellini (always injured) and Cristiano Raimondi (great nickname, not so great player).

The Italian Under-21 international has paid back Coach Edy Reja with two goals in his nine Serie A appearances so far. milan also have to go on the good rapport that has developed between the clubs, with Giacomo Bonaventura, Daniele Baselli, Gabriel Paletta and Alberto Grassi moving between the clubs.
