Mourinho: ‘Man Utd won’t sign Portuguese players’

“I won’t be signing any player from Portugal,” Mourinho said during a lecture at Lisbon University on Tuesday.
The new Manchester United boss was rumoured to be interested in a number of compatriots who could have raised the Red Devils’ squad.

Joao Mario and Andre Gomes in particular were thought to be topping the Special one shopping list at the Old Trafford, but according to the Portuguese manager there are no chances to see the duo wearing the Man Utd shirt in the 2016-17 campaign.

Executive Vice-President Ed Woodward faced lot of criticism two weeks ago after failing to seal the transfer of Portuguese sensation Renato Sanches who signed with Bayern Munich instead.

As Teamtalk reports, the Red Devils are looking to hiring a new sporting director too with Sevilla’s Monchi and Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta who are reportedly in pole position to get the job.
