Napoli and Reina put new contract talks on hold amid Man City interest

Pepe Reina’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon has met representatives of Napoli earlier today to discuss a potential contract extension of his star client. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has agreed to offer the former Liverpool star a one-year contract extension (Reina current deal expires in 2018) but the two parties have put contract talks on hold as there is still no economic agreement between them.

Our reporter Marco Giordano claims Reina has snubbed a move to Manchester City as he wants to stay at Napoli and sign a contract extension with the partenopei.
The Serie A giants have offered the 34-year-old a € 2.2 million-a-year deal that, however, can reach € 3.3 million-a-year with bonuses and add-ons.

Contract talks have been put on hold but that doesn’t mean Reina will be leaving the San Paolo in the summer.

The Spaniard has been omitted from the first two friendly games of Napoli this summer but the Spaniard still hopes he can manage to reach a deal with his club. Negotiations will be ongoing in the coming days.
