Napoli star Hamsik: 'I rejected Juve, Inter and Milan back in 2011, I want to retire here'

It’s confirmed: Marek Hamsik could have gone to either Milan, Juventus or Inter Milan back in 2011, only to turn all three down.

The Slovakian said as much himself to the Corriere dello Sport today (via FcInterNews.it).

Back then, the Rossoneri had just won the Serie A title (their last to date) and had lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while Inter were looking for midfield reinforcements.

Was I close to Milan, Juventus and Inter? I can confirm that,” Hamsik said.

The 29-year-old has already netted three Serie A goals and made two assists so far, and is coming off an eleven-assist season with the Partenopei.

Back in 2011, he’d just enjoyed his second-most prolific season in Italy, banging in 11 goals (and 6 assists) and helping Napoli stay competitive.

The Slovakian international also spoke about the Scudetto, and answered “I hope not” both when asked whether the Serie A season was already over… and whether Juventus would win it!

“Roma are doing really well, Milan too, Lazio are just behind and Inter will need to evaluate the after-effects of their [coaching] change.
“We’re still a third of the season in, things will be decided later on. I believe that, it’s not just a platitude”.
