Scouting Report: Antonio Negro, the player who's cast a spell on Sarri

With Milik out injured and Gabbiadini out of favour, Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is in desperate need for attacking reinforcements. On a positive note however, one of the jewels of the club’s Primavera squad is Antonio Negro and he may soon be given his big chance in Serie A

Born in Marcianise in the province of Caserta in 1998, Negro’s outstanding ability alerted Napoli early on and the vesuviani have nurtured the player through their youth ranks. Last season, he was top scorer for the Primavera team with 22 goals despite a disappointing campaign which saw the club finish in 10th position.

    ROMA & LAZIO:
He has always wanted to play for Napoli and as his agent, Marco Sommella, revealed to Calciomercato.com, his client was not without his admirers throughout Italy, explaining that; “When he was 14, Antonio was being monitored by many clubs. Pescara were very keen to take him and so were Roma and Lazio. However, when the offer came in from Napoli then he did not even have to consider it as he has always been a fan of the club and this was a dream for him”.

    SARRI UNDER HIS SPELL:
Coach Maurizio Sarri has already got Negro training with the first-team and he travelled with the rest of the players to Dimaro for pre-season training. Now the Tuscan tactician is educating the youngster on a daily basis and Sommella explained that; “With Sarri there is an excellent rapport and thanks to him he is improving very quickly. There is much work to be done however, and he must continue to listen to the boss and his Primavera coach Saurini who are doing their best to make him grow in both the championship and Youth League.
