New club joins race for Chelsea wantaway

Besiktas have entered the race for Diego Costa, according to reports from Turkey (via 101greatgoals).

Journalist Fırat Günayer claimed that the Eagles were interested in nabbing the Spanish international, who was dumped by Coach Antonio Conte via Whatsapp at the end of last season.

The Brazilian-born striker has been linked to former club Atletico Madrid, but it sounds like he’s too expensive for them. With Tianjin Quanjian willing to spend 80 million for him during the Winter, a recent report indicated that the 28-year-old may be as cheap as 25m.

It looks like Costa will only go on loan to Besiktas, however.

Costa has scored 52 goals in EPL action since joining the Pensioners in 2014, and has made it no secret that he wishes to play anywhere, except for China, and that he’d prefer Atletico Madrid.

“Atletico are one of them [the options], it doesn’t mean not playing, they can give me to any team in Spain, Brazil or wherever, but I have to play,” the 28-year-old said before Spain’s World Cup qualifier against Macedonia recently.

“Everyone in the world knows that I like them. I’m obviously discarding China, I am thinking about the World Cup”.
