Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez looks to sign Real Madrid man

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez looks to bring in Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla from current Champions League and La Liga champions Real Madrid, according to Spanish publication Marca.

The Magpies’ boss secured promotion with his side from the Championship last season before being promised by club owner Mike Ashley that he would receive all the money made from promotion and player sales.

But transfers haven’t happened as quick as the former-Real manager would have liked, meaning some speculation surfaced about his future at the club.

However, Newcastle did sign Christian Atsu on a permanent deal for around £6m, and then brought in French defender Florian Lejeune for around £8m, settling nerves of some of the fan base, with local news outlet The Chronicle stating that the manager was not leaving, but disgruntled over the speed of the signings.

Last season's number one goalkeeper for the Toon Army, Karl Darlow, looks set to be joining local rivals Middlesbrough, leaving a vacant spot for the ‘keeper position.
With Casilla as a second choice keeper for Real, behind Keylor Navas, there is some hope, despite the 30-year-old reportedly being happy with life in La Liga at the moment.
