No Griezmann? Real Madrid open to Man United interest in £86m star

Manchester United may be able to land a Madrid-based superstar, but it isn’t Antoine Griezmann.

According to the latest reports (via the Mirror), it looks like Real Madrid are encouraging the Red Devils to make a bid for Gareth Bale, a long-term target of the Mancunians’.

Jose Mourinho had set his sights on Atletico star Griezmann, but with the Frenchman slated to stay at the Estadio Metropolitano, the Old Trafford side are being directed towards Bale, who has dropped down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.

Real’s plan is to use the profits (more than the £86 million they originally paid for the Welshman) to finance bids for Eden Hazard or Kylian M’Bappe.

Bale has had a difficult season, being left out because of injury and struggling to reproduce the form he displayed in his first and third seasons with the Galacticos.

He has still managed a stunning 54 goals in 100 Liga games with the Blancos, 67 in total.
