Not good enough yet: Barcelona retire from race to sign Man Utd and Liverpool target
Barcelona are one the teams to have been linked with a move for the talented German midfielder but the blaugrana International director of Sport Ariedo Braida has revealed that the La Liga giants are not going to enter competition to sign the 22-year-old.
"He is certainly a great player, but for Barcelona it is too soon, Braida said. "I travel around the world in search of great talent, but our demands are extremely high."
Barcelona’s end of pursuit for Goretzka, however, does not mean Liverpool and Manchester United will easily sign the 22-year-old who is being heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
According to Sky Sport the Bundesliga giants have almost reached an agreement with the talented midfielder over a free summer move to the Allianz Arena.
