OFFICIAL: Juve confirm Claudio Marchisio already underwent second knee surgery

As we reported you this morning, the knee surgery Claudio Marchisio had underwent on the 19th of April had not produced the desired results, so much so the Italy International was rumoured to be in need of a new operation.

Juventus have just confirmed Marchisio has already underwent another surgery, here’s the club’s announcement:

Having missed out on yesterday’s Scudetto ceremony as a precaution, Claudio Marchisio is continuing his rehabilitation regime at Juventus Center following knee surgery last month.

Inflammation of the knee after the operation had delayed the first stage of the midfielder’s specialised fitness programme and arthroscopic cleansing was also required.

Upon gradual improvement of Marchisio’s current state, Juventus’ medical staff still expect the 30-year-old to make a return to training in the six month-period originally forecasted.”

Juventus will be now looking for two new midfielders: Miralem Pjanic tops Giuseppe Marotta wish-list, followed by Valencia’s André Gomes, Joshua Guilavogui, Javier Pastore and James Rodriguez. Rumours linking Mesut Ozil and Javier Mascherano with a move to the J Stadium have not been confirmed by our sources.
