PAPER TALK - Conte's Scotland XI, Van der Wiel - Roma, Emerson warns Morata

Today's Italian papers had a lot to say about Vincenzo Nibali, who returned from hell to win a stunning Giro d'Italia.

The Gazzetta were, admirably, brave enough to run with the Italian cyclist, and not the Champions League final, in which editorialist Sebastiano Vernazza praised Atletico Madrid for being "more of a team" and Cholismo "to have left Milan strengthened". Well, we imagine it's the part of Cholismo that doesn't include penalty-saving drills.

Anyway, the Rosea went on to talk about what Milan need to do to buy Zlatan Ibrahimovic (sell everyone and guarantee him rich sponsorship deals via the Chinese consortium), not to mention Lionel Messi's injury and the possibility that Paulo Dybala is called up by Argentina for their Copa America campaign. The Albiceleste have also claimed that they're trying to negotiate with Juventus over letting La Joya go to Rio... good luck with that!

The biggest headline is on Antonio Conte's picks for tonight's friendly with Scotland: though Montolivo and Thiago Motta are said to have recovered, the Italy Coach doesn't want to risk them. The lineup... is hardly very inspiring, if truth be told.

Italy (3-5-2): Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Darmian, Giaccherini, De Rossi, Florenzi, Candreva; Eder, Pelle

Moving onto the Corriere dello Sport, the Roman paper believes that PSG reject Gregory van der Wiel could be on his way to Rome: an alternative to Alessandro Florenzi on the right, the Dutchman had already visited the Olimpico back in 2012 before Luis Enrique failed to qualify his charges for any European competitions, turning the former Ajax right-back off.

They also claim that Lazio are moving for Genoa striker Leonardo Pavoletti, a very, very clever deal indeed. Presidents Lotito and Preziosi met for supper on Friday in Milan... having already done so in Rome back on Tuesday. Something could well be brewing in the pot...

The Roman paper also went with Atletico Madrid's interest in Sime Vrsaljko, as well as Conte's midfield doubts and Milan's Ibra quandary.

Tuttosport, for their part, report that AC Milan are interested in Barcelona fringe player Aleix Vidal. Despite being acquired from Sevilla for €17 million, he has only made 9 Liga starts for the Catalans and is said to want to try somewhere new. Step forward the Rossoneri, who may just further incentivise a move by hiring his former boss, Unai Emery...

The main story, however, is Juventus' refusal from ten days ago to sell Paulo Dybala to Manchester United, and the Bianconeri's decision to offer him a deal in line with Paul Pogba's, with a €4.5m salary, almost double what he currently earns.

Another good piece is an interview with former Juventino Emerson, who was trying to dissuade Alvaro Morata from returning to Real. "At Juventus the ambience is serene, and they take care of players, protect them. At Real, if you don't score for two games, you become a third wheel".

Wise words indeed... were it not for the fact that the Merengues are widely reported to want to sell Morata on, anyway.
