Paper Talk - Inter considering swoop for Dzeko, three-way tussle for Milan bench, keep calm & trust in Higuain

Reports in this morning’s Corriere dello Sport suggest that Inter will make a bid for misfiring Roma striker Edin Dzeko. Coach Roberto Mancini knows the Bosnian international well after their time together at Manchester City and with Roma boss Luciano Spalletti reportedly looking for a younger replacement, it seems Dzeko’s days in the Eternal City are numbered. The 30-year-old arrived in the Italian capital last summer to a huge welcome from the tifosi, who believed that he would be the catalyst to lead them to their first league title since 2001.

After French tactician Rudi Garcia was sacked in January and Italian frontman Stephan El Shaarawy arrived from Monaco and started firing in the goals, Dzeko’s first-team appearances have been limited and the eight goals he has contributed to the campaign is deemed just not good enough. The journal also states that the giallorossi have their eye on current Inter frontman Mauro Icardi and there have been suggestions that Dzeko could form part of a player plus cash deal. However, with the Argentine’s market value thought to be around €40 million, a switch to the capital seems unlikely.

The same paper also states that Lazio officials are travelling to Barcelona to try to secure the signature of full-back Adriano, who is entering the final year of his current deal with the Spanish champions.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that it’s a three-horse race for the job of Milan coach next season. Current Empoli boss Marco Giampaolo, ex Roma coach Rudi Garcia and Sampdoria tactician Vincenzo Montella are all reportedly on the short-list to replace Cristian Brocchi.

The future of Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic also comes under scrutiny in the pink journal with Juventus still favourites to activate his €38 million release clause.

Turin based Tuttosport leads with Real Madrid’s attempts to lure Juventus striker Paulo Dybala to the Bernabeu this season. The journal states however, that the 22-year-old Argentine sensation has pledged his future to the bianconeri.

Staying with Tuttosport, the paper declares that PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu will be in pole-position to replace Samir Handanovic at Inter should the Slovenian decide to leave this summer.

Corriere dello Sport confidently predicts that Torino boss Giampiero Ventura will succeed Antonio Conte as Italian national team coach. 2006 World Cup winning manager Marcello Lippi will also return as technical director.

Il Mattino tells Napoli fans to stay calm and that record-breaking striker Gonzalo Higuain will remain at the club next season. The Argentine hot-shot has headed off on a short vacation before heading to the USA for the Copa America with his country. His future at the San Paolo still remains uncertain.

The future of Roma legend Francesco Totti is still a puzzle according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. An offer of a one-year extension is on the table but the 39-year-old is still to confirm if he will stay at the club he’s spent his entire career at.
