Pep beats Chelsea & Man Utd to land £40M Monaco full-back

Manchester City have secured their third major signing of the summer with the news that Monaco full-back Benjamin Mendy has agreed a deal to move to the Etihad Stadium. The Sun writes in an exclusive that a £40M agreement was reached on Thursday evening with the 22-year-old who will link up again with his former Monaco team-mate Bernardo Silva who joined last week.

With Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson having also agreed a deal this week and that takes Pep Guardiola’s spending to almost £120M in just one week. A club insider told the journal that; ““Everything was agreed between the two clubs late on Thursday night. Mendy and City had already agreed terms.”

There are bonuses attached to the fee depending on trophies. It will be official once he’s done his duties with France. Cities aren’t done yet either, they still want to bring a few more faces in. Pep still wants a left-sided defender as well.”
