Pogba: "Pirlo, Nedved, Conte, I will tell you all about them. I want to become a legend"

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been speaking to French football monthly So Foot.

He explained that; “My brothers think I’m crazy because I always want to dance. I like dancing, in fact, my whole family do”. He then added that, “Since my first training session I can remember the goals that I scored and I also liked to play with boys that were older than me as it was more physical. I’ve always been a bad loser and ever since I was little, I cried every time I lost a game”.

The conversation then moved on to this summer’s European Championships in his home country. Pogba declared that; “I’m ready. I think the secret is to relax and not get caught up in all the hype. Playing at home could be a real advantage for us. We have a good young squad who are hungry for success. We hope we can repeat our World Cup triumph of 1998”.

    IDEAL ROLE
When asked about his preferred role, he replied; “I adapt to the players that I have around me. At Juventus I play more advanced than I do with the national team. Deschamps often has to encourage me to get further forward. Playing alongside Pirlo helped me a lot and made me realise it was important to stay humble. I would love to emulate him and be remembered as a true legend. Pavel Nedved often says to me that when he won the Balon d’Or it made him even hungrier for success. He tells me never to stop working even if you are the best”.

    AMBITION
Asked about his long-term ambition he declared that; “I want to become a midfielder that can do everything; retrieve possession, create attacks, score and make assists. Sometimes I dribble too much, Conte used to tell me to just do the simple things but sometimes it’s more difficult to play two touches than dribble”. He then described a life-changing trip to Guinea, explaining that; “Five years ago I was in Guinea and I witnessed some dreadful things. It made me see life differently and to be grateful for the talents I had been given as a footballer. I don’t want to squander this opportunity; I want to become a legend, the best midfielder in history”.
