Premier League trio battle it out for Man United defender

West Ham, Everton and West Bromwich Albion are all eying a potential move for out-of-favour Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling, according to the Telegraph.

The defender, who is rated at a bargain fee of £15 million, could be moved out of Old Trafford, with 22-year-old Victor Lindelof ever increasingly looking like his replacement.

Man United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly not convinced that the 27-year-old is good enough to mount a serious title bid in the Premier League next season and also has issues with the England International’s mental toughness.

The player, who was Man United Players’ Player of the Year during Louis van Gaal’s last season with the Red Devils could be making a move back to London in order to solidify The Hammers back-line, with Everton and West Brom also in the hunt for the Greenwich-born defender.
