Puyol: ‘If I had to leave Barecelona, I’d have joined AC Milan’

Barcelona legend Carles Puyol has released an interview with Extra Time revealing that he’d have joined AC Milan if he had to leave Barcelona during his playing career.

Puyol spent the whole career at the Nou Camp, winning 20 trophies in 15 years including three Champions League, six LaLiga titles and club’s World Cups.

The former Barcelona and Spain defender, however, has revealed that he would have moved to AC Milan if his Barcelona side was not as successful.

“There was no reason to leave Spain. My Barcelona side were a successful team, but if I had to choose another club, I’d have joined AC Milan.”

“I hope they can return back to the top soon.”

Puyol ended his playing career two years ago, aged 36. The former Barcelona captain played 589 games with the Nou Camp hierarchy scoring 19 goals in all competitions. The former Spain defender also won one World Cup and one European Championship with his national team during his playing career.
