Rafa Benitez looks to bolster Newcastle with Arsenal midfielder

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is looking to bolster his squad by signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to the Telegraph.

The Magpies’ boss is looking to nip Swansea City to the signing of the out-of-favour player.

Wilshere was sent out on loan to AFC Bournemouth last season and had a mixed spell – but he is still a significant name in English football.

Welsh side Swansea are looking to find a replacement should their star player Gylfri Sigurdsson join up at Everton, with Wilshere as one of manager Paul Clement’s targets.

Arsenal are hoping for either Wilshere to stay for the remainder of his contract – which is only a year - or sell him on a permanent deal – something which may put many interested parties off, considering the current climate of inflated prices.
It is thought that the Gunners have slapped a price of around £20m for the 25-year-old.

The appeal of Newcastle United for the Stevenage-born player would be the chance to have regular game-time under an esteemed manager and alongside many England prospects, like Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden or newly-bought Jacob Murphy.
The matter would be the price, but it is suggested that it will be decreased as the window edges on.
