Rangers make a move for unsettled Chelsea striker

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha is desperate to try to make the Glasgow giants competitive again next season and to try to put serious pressure on city rivals Celtic’s domination of Scottish football. The Mirror reports that a player at the top of his wish-list is Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

The 23-year-old Belgian international suffered mixed fortunes in his first season at Stamford Bridge despite scoring the goal that won the club the Premier League title. With Blues boss Antonio Conte being linked Everton frontman Romelu Lukaku, Batshuayi fears he will have to play second fiddle once again next term and is understood to be planning a move away.

Rangers will face strong competition for his signature however, with West Ham, Sevilla and Monaco all reported to be interested in making a move. Conte meanwhile, is reluctant to let him go until after he has a new man in place but is likely then to off-load even though Diego Costa has claimed that he’s also surplus to requirements in West London.
