Real Madrid close to landing €26m Atletico defender
Marca confirm that the 19-year-old Franco-Spanish talent is set to move to the Santiago Bernabeu for €26 million.
The French-born player will become the first player to leave Atletico to join Real Madrid in fifteen years, following in the footsteps of Hugo Sanchez, Bernd Schuster and Raul Gonzalez.
The Merengues are faithful to their policy of recruiting young players. Hernandez, who spent last season on loan to Alaves, belongs to Atletico Madrid, for whom he has only played ten La Liga games.
His elder brother Lucas is already an established starter at the Vicente Calderon.
The 19-year-old is set to join in the coming days, possibly as early as Friday or Saturday.
Real Madrid plan to blood the young Marseille native as Marcelo’s eventual replacement on the left.
He made 30 starts last season in La Liga, scoring once.
