Real Madrid star: Zidane could coach France

Raphael Varane claims that Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has what it takes to manage France.

One of the world’s most talented teams, Les Bleus have underachieved in recent years, ever since winning the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 in emphatic fashion.

Zidane, who was present in 1998 and 2000, was praised by the Galacticos defender, who was drawing parallels with fellow World Champions Laurent Blanc and Didier Deschamps - respectively the former and current French national Coach.

“They’re all former France players who enjoyed great successes during their careers,” Varane told Foot Mercato.

“They all won a lot with the team and are experienced, they all have the tranquillity and calmness needed for big matches.

“Could Zidane manage France? I don’t see why he couldn’t as he is a fantastic leader both on and off the pitch.”
