Real Madrid turn down Man United's (third) €70m offer for Morata

Real Madrid have turned down a £61 million offer for Alvaro Morata from Manchester United, Tancredi Palmeri confirms (via the Mirror).

The Red Devils were hoping to land the 70m star - who scored 15 Liga goals from only 14 starts last season - with the offer.

Then again, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez told Marca yesterday that “if someone wants Morata, they have to pay for him,” a reference to the fact that the Galacticos want 90 million for their academy product.

Morata went to Juventus for two seasons before being bought back for 30 million last summer, scoring 27 goals in all competitions, and starring in the Old Lady’s 2014-2015 Champions League campaign.

It is, Palmeri confirms, the third offer the Old Trafford side has made for the 24-year-old, who has reportedly agreed to a £10.5 million (€12m) yearly salary offer from Jose Mourinho’s side.

Then again, Coach Zinedine Zidane has already appealed to the Liga champions’ board to keep the star, who is the first alternative to striker Karim Benzema.
