Real Madrid turn their attentions to Donnarumma after being priced-out of De Gea deal

Real Madrid’s seemingly endless quest to try to land Spanish number one goalkeeper David De Gea looks to be over for another transfer window. Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane wants the 26-year-old at the Santiago Bernabeu but Manchester United’s current asking price of £65M has cooled the waters somewhat.

Now The Mirror insists that the Frenchman’s attention has turned to Serie A and in particular, AC Milan custodian Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 18-year-old sensation is still to commit his future to the Rossoneri despite reports claiming that the club are ready to offer him a salary of around €3M-a-season plus bonuses. The player’s agent, Mino Raiola, is using the outside interest as a bargaining tool to try to get the Italians to make an even better offer.

Real Madrid for their part, believe they can pick up the youngster, tipped by many observers to become one of the world’s best keepers, for half the price of De Gea and it seems as though President Florentino Perez is also open to this scenario. According to reports in Italy, Donnarumma could soon sign a contract extension with AC Milan although his new deal with the club may include a release clause.
