Real Madrid: Zidane promotes youngster to senior squad but faces competition from Barça for star defender

Real Madrid are dealing with the Cristiano Ronaldo affaire. The Portuguese star has handed in a transfer request at the Merengues whose priority is now to sort the situation out in order to persuade the top class striker to stay at Manchester United.
The Champions League winners have already shortlisted some potential replacements for Ronaldo but, of course, they would prefer the Portuguese to stay at the club.

Ronaldo, however, is not the ony player on the verge of leaving Real Madrid.
According to reports in Italy, the Merengues are interested in signing Danilo who may cost the Serie A giants somewhere in the region of € 30 million.

Danilo has been shortlisted as a possible replacement for Dani Alves who is going to leave Juventus and join Manchester City. According to Don Balon, Zinedine Zidane does not need the club to sign a new defender but will promote Achraf Hakimi to senior team. Hakimi, 18, is a product of the club’s academy and can either play as right-back or attacking winger.

Real Madrid, however, will also be looking for a replacement for Pepe who is set to leave the Bernabeu as a free agent. Still according to Don Balon, the Merengues have set sights on Psg defender Marquinhos who, however, is also chased by Barcelona, Juventus and Chelsea.

Real Madrid’s biggest problem, however, is not competition from other clubs but the player’s will to stay in Paris. The Brazilian, in fact, has recently revealed that he’s not planning to leave the Parc des Princes in the summer.
