REPORT: Marcello Lippi in pole position to replace Garcia at Roma

Today’s edition of Il Corriere dello Sport reveals that former Juventus and senior Italy team head coach Marcello Lippi is in pole position to replace Rudi Garcia as Roma boss.

The Frenchman is on thin ice following La Lupa shock elimination in Coppa Italia at hands of Spezia yesterday, while their Serie A campaign has been disappointing thus far as the Giallorossi side sit 5th in the league, seven points behind table leaders Inter.

The Italian paper suggests that Lippi could be appointed as Roma’s interim manager until the end of the season and from June 2016 he could be offered a job as club director.

Former Zenit Saint Petersburg boss Luciano Spalletti has been allegedly offered Rudi Garcia’s job with  Walter Mazzarri and Fabio Capello who are also Walter Sabatini’s agenda, while Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly turned down Roma job offer.

One of them could become the next Roma manager in case Garcia will suffer defeat in the upcoming Serie A game against Genoa.
