REPORT: New Sevilla Coach Sampaoli wants to coach Argentina!
The story was broken by his agent, who was talking on Argentinian tv.
“Jorge wants to coach Argentina, but Sevilla won't let him go,” Fernando Baredes told TyC Sports, “It's impossible for Sampaoli to exercise his release clause, and neither can the Argentinian FA”.
It would appear that Sampaoli is as unpredictable as Marcelo Bielsa, the Coach from whom he has drawn the most inspiration. Sampaoli made his name in Chile, leading a spectacular Universidad side to a league and a Copa Sudamericana title, before winning the Copa America with the Lone Star country.
Sevilla's director of sport, Ramon Monchi, has denied talk of any contact between the AFA and his newly-appointed manager: “The Argentinian Federation hasn't been in touch. Sampaoli is totally involved in Sevilla's project”.
