REVEALED: The Ins and Outs of Vangioni's move to Milan

Is Leonel Vangioni's move to Milan in the January window such a foregone conclusion? Not if our sources are to be trusted.

Calciomercato can exclusively reveal that the Argentine defender's family isn't so sold on him leaving River Plate immediately, as it would be seen as being disprespectful to the club.

There are other issues: with the Milionarios forcing him to train on his own because of his European ambitions, he is not match fit, and is worried that he may not be able to endure his baptism of fire, and end up getting burned.

This would explain why he wants to wait until summer, when he can prepare himself as calmly as possible in the preseason. That said, it doesn't look like he'd say no to an immediate move if he was pressed, and looks set to receive a three-year deal either way.

And here's the snag. As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio's website, Vangioni's former club, Newell's Old Boys, is set to speed up negotiations. Why? Because they are set to earn 30% of the proceeds of the sale, and Vangioni's contract runs out in the summer.

And Adriano Galliani, Milan's CEO and vice-president, seems amenable to an immediate transfer, telling Premium Sport that "we have an excellent relationship with River Plate".

"If we can agree on a reasonable sum we can bring him over immediately".

The Argentine's move is favoured by two more factors: he has an Italian passport (and won't count as a non-Eu player), and is being debated at a time when Milan have sold Luiz Adriano , and have Alessio Cerci and Stephan El Shaarawy on the way out too. This should be enough of a kitty for Vangioni... and El Ghazi!
