REVEALED: The reason why Daniele Rugani was benched against Frosinone

With Giorgio Chiellini who was not fit (and eventually got injured) and Leonardo Bonucci who was only one yellow card away from suspension, Daniele Rugani though his time to start his third Serie A game as a Juventus’ player had finally come.

Oddly, the former Empoli defender was eventually benched against Frosinone last week, something he’s been quite used to this term.

La Stampa has tried to give an explanation to Massimiliano Allegri’s decision. According to the Italian paper, Allegri decided to line-up Bonucci running the risk of losing him for the decisive game against Napoli as Frosinone’s pitch is the smallest in Serie A and Rugani could have struggled in building up from the back.

Despite Chiellini’s injury, Rugani is still expected to start from the bench against Napoli on Saturday night. Oddly, as we’ve already pointed out, the Italian full-back would have played such decisive game if he had played for Napoli instead.
