Rising Juventus star Alex Sandro earns Selecao call-up

Good news for Alex Sandro, better news for Juventus… and a potential revolution for Brazil.

That’s right, the Selecao has called up the former Porto full-back… for the first time since 2012. Alex will be present for Brazil’s last two official games before the upcoming Copa America. They play Uruguay and Paraguay in two key World Cup qualifiers.

Sandro is being rewarded for his impressive performances in a black and white shirt. Initially seen as an expensive €25 million sub, the former Porto man has emerged as one of the most exciting full-backs in Serie A, nay Europe, with his rampaging runs down the left adding a new dimension to the Bianconeri’s attacking setup.

The 25-year-old isn’t Coach Dunga’s only Serie A pick, with captain Miranda of Inter also making the squad.

Brazil’s Squad for the Uruguay and Paraguay qualifiers:

Goalkeepers: Alisson (Internacional), Marcelo Grohe (Grêmio), Diego Alves (Valencia)

Defenders: David Luiz (PSG), Miranda (Inter), Marquinhos (PSG), Gil (Shandong Luneng), Danilo (Real Madrid), Daniel Alves (Barcellona), Filipe Luís (Atlético Madrid), Alex Sandro (Juventus)

Midfielders: Luis Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Fernandinho (Manchester City), Renato Augusto (Beijing Guoan), Coutinho (Liverpool), Oscar (Chelsea), Lucas Lima (Santos), Willian (Chelsea), Kaká (Orlando City), Douglas Costa (Bayern Monaco)

Strikers: Neymar (Barcellona), Hulk (Zenit), Ricardo Oliveira (Santos)
