Roma star Kostas Manolas is set to sign a new contract with the giallorossi who expect to announce the player’s contract extension after the International break.

The Greece International came close to leaving the Olimpico in the summer as Zenit St. Petersburg reached an agreement with both the player and Roma. Manolas, however, failed to show up for medical making his move to Russia collapse.

Manolas is now expected to sign a contract extension until 2022. The player’s new salary will be in the region of € 3 million-a-year but clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United would still have a chance to sign him either in January or in the summer.

Both Premier League giants had been linked with a summer move for the 26-year-old last summer but they eventually decided to sign Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea) and Victor Lindelof (Man Utd).

According to Il Corriere della Sera Manolas entourage want to add a € 30 million release clause in the player’s new deal and that fee would definitely be affordable for both the Red Devils and the Blues.
