Roma want Juventus defender Caceres, but Barzagli is blocking the move

Juventus' Martin Caceres dilemma isn't just going to solve itself. Though his future is set to be away from Turin, the club and he can't agree on a destination.

Whilst Giuseppe Marotta would love to have him leave the country, and definitely not play for a rival. Whilst Fenerbahce's rich offer has enticed Juventus, the Uruguayan international is far more enthusiastic about his Serie A suitors, which include Inter, Milan and Roma. The Bianconeri certainly don't want what is still a valuable player joining a direct rival for the title.

With the club also telling Caceres that his contract won't be renewed, the situation was far more congenial to Juve six months ago, before a number of Italian clubs decided to line up and court the former Sevilla player.

Roma in particular have been particularly dedicated in the last few hours, approaching agent Daniel Fonseca. The former Giallorossi striker has done everything possible to convince Marotta, but hasn't got very far.

There's more to it than Juve's preoccupation with reinforcing a rival: with Andrea Barzagli still hurt and Bayern Munich on the horizon, the club needs a replacement until the Roma game, Barzagli's supposed return date (though it may well be later). Coach Max Allegri has specifically asked the club to delay Caceres' departure, despite Daniele Rugani's irritation.

Either way, the Caceres situation is set to be a fascinating one.
