Romagnoli untouchable despite Bayern, Barcelona interest

Yesterday's 4-1 win over Ireland wasn't just a healthy slice of good news for Italy's Under-21 coach, Gigi Di Biagio.

It also confirmed just how far Milan have come in picking strong, young Italian players. With Gigi Donnarumma breaking an Under-21 record by being the youngest ever (at 17 years, 28 days old) to represent his country at this level, Rossoneri fans know they can entrust the protection of their goal to a safe pair of hands for the next decade or so.

Make that a safe pair of legs (or head), too, with Alessio Romagnoli showing the kind of promise against Ireland that has been on offer all season at Milan, and scoring the Azzurri's third.

And the best is yet to come: despite his precocious talent, it appears that the 21-year-old isn't going anywhere. It is a well-known fact that both Bayern Munich and Barcelona have scouted him in recent months, but Milan won't be tempted by any offer.

This despite the fact that the Anzio-born youngster has hardly been perfect this year: according to Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, he needs to be more determined when looking to anticipate his opponents and intercept the ball, especially away from goal.
