Romano Exclusive: Liverpool, Inter target included Juve’s young Italian spending spree

Juventus are chasing three of Italy’s most promising youngsters, according to Calciomercato reporter Fabrizio Romano.

The latest names on Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici’s books are those of Alex Meret, Filippo Melegoni… and Domenico Berardi!

We’re written extensively about Alex Meret, the 19-year-old who some see as Gianluigi Buffon’s heir.

Currently out on loan at Spal, Meret and his entourage have reportedly already agreed to economic terms with the Bianconeri, and the youngster is set to join next season.

Recently returning to Serie A action, Domenico Berardi is the second big name on Juve’s shopping list, though Inter’s competition is set to make things rather complicated.

The Bianconeri have long been known to have a gentlemen’s agreement with Sassuolo over a 25 million move, though Liverpool are also interested in him, something confirmed only a few days ago.

The third name? That of Filippo Melegoni, another Atalanta talent. While the Orobici have grabbed recent headlines with their eight-game winning streak in Serie A play, Melegoni has long been mentioned as one of Calcio’s most exciting attacking midfield prospects.

He will turn exactly 18 in one month’s time.

Here’s a curious stat to mull in the old noggin: Juventus have only acquired 27% of their players from outside of Italy since 2010. Talk about Bayern - style domination!
