Sampaoli warns Inter: ‘Icardi has physical problems’

Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli has no good news for Inter as the former Sevilla manager has revealed that the talented striker has picked up an injury and is not at the top of his form.

“Icardi is not at the top of his form, he has some physical problems”, Sampaoli said during the pre-match press conference of Argentina-Peru.

Icardi had a great start to the season as he managed five goals in the opening three Serie A games. During the last few league games, however, the 24-year-old struggled to find the net of the goal and it is now hard to imagine that he will start against Peru tonight at the Bombonera stadium.

Icardi was called up to Argentina national team for the first time in September. Sampaoli opted to call him instead of Gonzalo Higuain who had been struggling in the first few games of the season with Juventus.

Inter hope Icardi’s injury won’t affect the player once he will be back in Italy as Inter are due to play against AC Milan after the International break.
