Serie A news: Higuain left out of Juventus starting XI against Genoa

Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain is set to start today’s Serie A clash against Genoa from the bench. The Argentinean strike was not called for the midweek Champions League clash to Sevilla due to a muscle injury which he had picked up last week during the home Serie A game against Pescara.

Higuain, 28, is the most expensive signing in the history of Juventus as he joined the Old Lady from Napoli for € 90 million last summer. The former Real Madrid and River Plate man has recovered from last week’s injury but is still not fit enough to start and is being replaced by Juan Cuadrado in Juventus’ attack today.

The Colombian winger partners Mario Mandzukic up front. Max Allegri has confirmed the 3-5-2 system with Stephan Lichtsteiner and Dani Alves also starting from the first minute. The Brazilian defender is being lined-up in Juventus’ three-man defence, whilst Lichtsteiner playing as right winger.

Argentina and Juventus striker Paulo Dybala is also being ruled out of today’s Genoa clash with a muscle injury which means Max Allegri is forced to do without his € 130 million attack duo for the second successive game after the midweek Sevilla clash.
