Should he stay or should he go? Outlining Inter’s transfer strategies for next season

Inter owner president Erick Thohir will return to Milan after the last game of the season on the 7th of May to talk to Roberto Mancini, Piero Ausilio and Javier Zanetti and lay out plans for the summer transfer window.

It is worth adding that Piero Ausilio could not be Inter’s sporting director anymore next season and that Inter are in talks with China group Suning over the sale of a minority share in the club.

WHO WILL LEAVE – Three players will definitely leave La Pinetina: Davide Santon, Alex Telles and Adem Ljaic have already packed their suitcases looking for their next stop. The Italian defender has failed to live up to his former standards at the club and Inter will be looking for suitors in the summer, while Telles and Ljaic have not justified their price-tags. Inter had an option to make their loan switches permanent, but Erik Thohir has decided not to exercise them. Inter are also looking for suitors willing to pay Stevan Jovetic’s price-tag. The Serie A side have a mandatory € 14 million buy-out clause to buy him from Manchester City, but they are looking for a club interested in signing the Montenegro star in order to save money, just like they did with Xerdan Shaqiri one year ago.

WHO WILL ARRIVE – As you already know, two players will arrive to the San Siro as free agents: Ever Banega will travel from Seville to add much-needed quality to the nerazzurri’s midfield, while Caner Erkin will be the man replacing Santon (and Nagatomo) as left-back. He has already underwent medical and if Inter will agree on his transfer, he will join at the beginning of the season Who else? Roberto Mancini wants another centre midfielder, a right-back and an offensive winger with Lazio’s Antonio Candreva who has been linked with Inter switch.

THE BIG NAME TO SACRIFICE – With Inter back in European competitions, the Serie A club will have to keep attention to the FFP rules imposed by UEFA. Roberto Mancini does not want the big names to go away but Inter will probably have to sell one between Miranda, Murillo, Brozovic, Perisic or Icardi, whether or not Suning will acquire a 20% stake in the club. When big European clubs (especially English) knock your door putting a huge offer in the table it is always difficult to say no, both for club and players.
