Sources: Inter met with Bonucci before he moved to AC Milan

Leonardo Bonucci was approached by Inter before he joined Milan this summer, our sources reveal.

The former Juventus star and winner of six straight Serie A titles moved to the Rossoneri for €40 million after tiffing with former Coach Max Allegri. He was also linked to Chelsea and Manchester City before moving to the San Siro.

He was, many remember, a former Inter player, making his Serie A debut in 2006 by replacing Santiago Solari, but he was eventually sold by the Nerazzurri to Treviso in 2007.

He was approached by Walter Sabatini this summer in Rome, before he chose the Rossoneri, with whom he is having some difficulties.

The Italian international isn’t having the merriest of seasons, making less interceptions (1,43 per game, as opposed to 1,92 when he was at Juve), winning less tackles (0,71 to 1), and winning less one-on-ones (2,82 to 3,47) and going for less long balls (0,14 compared to 0,58), the latter being a particularly important feature - remember that long ball for Emanuele Giaccherini against Belgium?
