Barcelona-Las Palmas 3-0 as it happened

Barcelona-Las Palmas was thought to have been cancelled due to clashes between residents and police over Catalonia's referendum. The region wishes to break away from Spain and become an independent state and Barcelona and its Board considered not playing the match due clashes going on in Barcelona.

Las Palmas for their part disagree with what the region is attempting to do, and conversely with Barcelona’s hesitance. The club as decided to stitch the Spanish flag on their kits in an act of defiance at Barcelona’s home ground.

The Spanish FA had initially decided to cancel the game but they eventually changed their mind and told Barcelona that the game had to be played. Barcelona have confirmed that the match is on through an official statement published on their social media accounts as well as their website.

FC Barcelona condemns the events which have taken place in many parts of Catalonia today in order to prevent its citizens exercising their democratic right to free expression.
Given the exceptional nature of events, the Board of Directors have decided that the FC Barcelona first team game against Las Palmas will be played behind closed doors following the Professional Football League’s refusal to postpone the game.
