Spurs striker set to depart to the Bundesliga

After a season to forget in England, Spurs striker Vincent Janssen looks set to end his Premier League nightmare by heading to the Bundesliga to join Borussia Monchengladbach.  The Mirror reports that the German side are ready to make an offer for the wantaway 23-year-old Dutchman who was brought to North London by Mauricio Pochettino as back-up to England frontman Harry Kane.

Having fell out of form and out of favour in the final season at White Hart Lane, Janssen finally broke his duck on March 12 when he netted his first goal for the club in an FA Cup tie against Millwall. Having finished the season with six goals in 38 appearances in all competitions, his future now seems certain to be elsewhere and whilst on international duty recently, he told Dutch journalists that; “I initially found it difficult with my role as a substitute, sometimes sitting in the stands at Spurs, but I learned to deal with it”.

“As a young player I had to compete with Harry Kane – the top scorer of the Premier League – arguably the toughest league in the world, and a striker who is performing remains in the team. That [my future] is a matter for after the holidays. I want the prospect of more playing time, but otherwise I'm now better keeping my mouth shut. I cannot say anything about that [a return to the Eredivisie] either. I keep all options open."
