Star defender ‘likely’ to leave Roma is Chelsea offer is confirmed

No secret that Chelsea are long time admirers of Roma star Kostas Manolas who is being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for almost one year. The Greece International is contracted with Roma until 2019 and despite reports of a possible contract extension, Manolas has not yet reach an economic agreement with his club.

According to reports in Greece Chelsea have made an opening € 48 million bid to sign the 26-year-old who has imposed himself as one of the best centre-backs in Serie A during his three-year spell at the Olimpico.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Forzaroma.info) claims that Manolas would be likely to leave Roma for a similar fee. In other words, € 48 million are enough to sign the highly rated defender and if Chelsea have really made a similar offer the player could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Manolas, however, is also a transfer target of Zenit with the Russian’s new boss Roberto Mancini who has offered the Greek star a € 3.5 million-a-year salary, according to Sky.
