Live updates: Inter consider Guidolin as potential replacement for De Boer

Inter are set to appoint their new boss after sacking Frank De Boer earlier this week. Inter lost 7 of their opening 14 games under the Dutch boss whose departure, however, has not helped Inter in terms of results as the nerazzurri lost yesterday’s Europa League clash to Southampton putting their future in the competition into serious doubts.

Many names have been linked with the Inter job and Suning owner’s son Steven Zhang has arrived in Milan where he will hold talks for the appointment of Inter’s new manager.

Stefano Pioli remains the favourite candidate. He’s backed by both Piero Ausilio and Javier Zanetti, but Suning would prefer a manager with more International experience. Trusted external advisor Kia Joorabchian is pushing for both Marcelino and Guus Hiddink though former Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin is also believed to be a credible option.

Steven Zhang and his right hand man Jun Ren will meet Piero Ausilio today. The club’s DS is flying back from Southampton where he watched the team’s 2-1 defeat yesterday.

UPDATE 12.30 pm: Calciomercato.com has exclusively learned that stocks of former Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin are rising as the Italian tactician is among the candidates Steven Zhang is considering to replace Frank De Boer.
