Strootman to miss key clashes against AC Milan and Juventus after receiving two-match ban

AS Roma star Kevin Strootman has received a two-match ban and is set to miss the incoming Serie A games against AC Milan and Juventus. The Dutch midfielder caused Danilo Cataldi’s red card during last week-end’s derby against Lazio. After the celebration for the opener he had just netted, Strootman threw some water on the Lazio midfielder, causing his reaction.

Cataldi pulled Strootman’s shirt with the Dutch midfielder who fell on the ground. Referee Gialunca Banti gave Cataldi his marching order and booked Strootman.

The Sports Court, however, has studied video evidences and decided to suspend the AS Roma star for the next two games for simulation. The giallorossi are very likely to appeal against the decision, but as of today, Strootman is set to skip the incoming Serie A clashes against AS Roma’s direct rivals Juventus and AC Milan.

Luciano Spalletti’s side sit second in the table alongside AC Milan, just four points short of table leaders Juventus.
