From tempting Manchester United to barely getting a game and missing the World Cup, it’s been a horrible two years for Kevin Strootman.

The Dutch International, however, finally sees a light at the end of the tunnel.

According to Il Tempo, the former PSV star hopes to return – albeit just to the bench - for Matchday 21, when Roma face Juventus in Turin.

The 25–year-old began life very well in Rome, quickly imposing himself in the Giallorossi’s midfield and attracting the interest of Europe’s top tier clubs, before an ACL tear forced him to miss last year’s World Cup and most of the last 18 months’ worth of football.

With the Dutchman on the men once again, he is hoping to make a successful return early in 2016, and be able to play out the second half of the season.

He’s already asked the club to organize a friendly for him in December, though he won’t be fully recovered then.
