The paradox of Draxler: linked with a move to Juve, but the Old Lady doesn’t want him anymore

Barely a year ago Julain Draxler was Juventus’ priority target. In summer 2015 Allegri asked the club to sign a versatile attacking midfielder who could also play as winger and Draxler seemed to be the right player for the Old Lady.

Negotiations with Schalke 04 lasted long, too long, so long that Wolfsburg entered the race in the deadline day of the transfer window, stealing the Germany International from under the Old Lady’s nose using proceedings of the sale of Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City.

One year after his Wolfsburg switch, Draxler wants to leave the Bundesliga giants and some German papers are linking him with a January move to Juventus.

However, our transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano has exclusively learned that Juventus are not interested in signing Julian Draxler anymore and want to remain on good terms with Wolfsburg.

Draxler’s price-tag is now believed to be around € 60 million, a sum that Juventus is not willing to invest, especially for a player they don’t need. The likes of Marko Pjaca and Juan Cuadrado can offer enough quality to Massimiliano Allegri who would rather prefer a huge investment for the purchase of a centre midfielder, given he’s short of options in that part of the pitch, especially after the injury of Kwadwo Asamoah who will also travel with Ghana national team in January for African Cup of nation.
