Udinese fire disappointing Colantuono, replacement yet to be named

Stafano Colantuono has been fired by Udinese, the club has officially announced.

Udinese Calcio would like to thank both Colantuono and his staff for the hard work and professionalism given over the past few months, wishing them all the best of luck in the continuation of their careers.

It is hardly surprising that Colantuono has been sacked, as the Zebrette are lurking uncomfortably above the relegation zone, and have lost 7 of their last 11 games, with only one win against lowly Hellas Verona.

Colantuono had previously managed Atalanta on two occasions, earning two promotions to Serie A and achieving respectable finishes in 2006-2007 (8th place) and 2013-2014 (11th).

And it's not the Roman manager's fault, exactly: Udinese are short of talent just about everywhere on the pitch except for in goal, Antonio Di Natale's sudden ageing has completely blunted the attack, and the midfield is hardly the machine it was back in Francesco Guidolin's day.
