Update: Swansea chairman hints at Everton nabbing £30m Spurs target

Everton are closing in on a £30 million deal with Swansea City star Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to the latest developments (reported by 101greatgoals).

While negotiations are still reportedly ongoing, the Swans’ Vice Chairman, Leigh Dineen, seemed to be confirming that the move was going to happen on social media last night, disappointing Tottenham Hotspur fans who wanted their former player to return to White Hart Lane.

He was answering worried fans of the Liberty Stadium side, having watched him score 27 Premier League goals over the last three seasons, and provide an amazing 26 assists.

“For the last 13 years our club has built teams that can compete or move forward,” Dineen wrote. “We sell and we buy. No reason to worry that this will change.”

The whole exchange on twitter (see link) reveals that the Welsh side is expecting to sell.

His role was particularly key as the Swans avoided relegation this season, despite a horrific start.

Everton have been on a spending spree nabbing Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane Davy Klaassen Sandro Ramirez, Henry Onyekuru and Wayne Rooney, the first three signing for figures above the £20m mark.

It looked like the Toffees would have to spend more than £30m last month, but things seem to be taking a positive turn for them.
