    After seeing his team beaten by Southampton, Inter coach Stefano Vecchi spoke at his post-match press-conference. He began by stating that; "We played well in the first-half but then tired in the second. Southampton played with great intensity after the break but the goals we conceded were unfortunate. The players gave absolutely everything out there but in the second-half we gave the ball away too cheaply and this has cost us.

    When asked about the small amount of time he had had to prepare for the game, Vecchi stated that; "We needed a little more luck tonight but after the break we demonstrated some of our limitations particularly physically. When you tire you must keep the ball and that is what we didn't do. We defended too deeply and ultimately we were punished. I will repeat what I said earlier however, I cannot fault the players for the effort they have given me".
