WATCH! A young Fabio Cannavaro gets interviewed before Napoli’s first Serie A title
On this day 29 years ago, Napoli won the first Serie A title of their history. Claudio Garella, Ciro Ferrara, Salvatore Bagni, Bruno Giordano and Diego Armando Maradona were the most important players of that team coached by Ottavio Bianchi and with Pierpaolo Marino and Corrado Ferlaino inside the club’s control room.
Before Napoli’s Serie A title victory a local TV interviewed some ball boys and former professional footballers Gaetano De Rosa (Bari, Genoa, Reggina), Raffaele Ametrano (Italy U-21 EURO champion) and Fabio Cannavaro (2006 World Cup and Balon d’Or winner) were among them.
You can hear the former Inter and Juventus centre-back telling the journalist: “My name is Fabio Cannavaro, I am from Fuorigrotta.”
“I used to play for Italsider, now I am playing for Napoli [youth team] and I am very happy here. I’ve been dreaming today’s game a lot, I hope we are going to win.”
