    We're not quite sure why this Roma fan has been fined €167

    Though Italy’s authorities are generally right about fan violence inside stadiums, they can come up with some howlers, too. 

    One example is of a Roma fine who was fined €167 for exposing a banner at the recent 3-2 win over Sampdoria. 

    Was he guilty of insulting, potentially racist statements? Not quite. He simply drew a picture of actor Alberto Sordi’s character in the film “The Traffic Cop” (a policeman, obviously) next to the word “MULTRAS”, a play on the Italian words for fine {multa) and Ultras. 

    Obviously complaining about the (justified) fines that are levied from offending ultras, this (as yet unnamed) fan has taken this to his laywer, Lorenzo Contucci, who published the fine on his Facebook account. 

    Here is the letter he's received from the local police prefecture:
